A new drilling device for dentist students teaches them to drill in virtual 3D “teeth”. The simulator, developed by the ESRC-funded Technology Enhanced Learning programme,  uses haptic technology to give different resistance, depending on whether the students are drilling in hard enamel or decayed tooth.
