In the news: Early communication improves speech and development

Research findings from the Children of the 90s study indicate that children are better at talking by age two and do better at school if their parents have encouraged communication from early on.  According to the Bristol University press release, “children whose parents provided a rich ‘communications environment’ went on to achieve higher scores on tests of language, reading and maths when they entered school”.  You can find out more about the project on YouTube (film courtesy of the Wellcome Trust).
